A proud third generation family business, Edge Transport was founded in 1933 so will be 86 years old in 2019. Alfred Edge started as an owner driver distributing goods for the Army during the war and afterwards started to provide long distance haulage to Chester businesses. In the early 1960’s Alfred’s son, Peter Edge, took over the company’s continued expansion resulting in a relocation from Chester to Llay Industrial Estate.
The business continued to go from strength to strength and developed a reputation for high quality distribution services across the North West and North Wales.
Since 2000, the business has been run by the next generation, Jonathan and Jenny. In September 2001 Richard Pridding joined the business, later becoming Jenny’s husband, and Jonathan’s wife Nikki, also started working for the company in 2012.
In 2013 it became apparent that the business would soon outgrow the site in Llay so after months of searching they found a 6.2 acre site on Fourth Avenue, Deeside Industrial Estate which was perfect.
Over the next 18 months the site was transformed into a purpose built 75,000 sq ft storage and distribution facility that Edge are immensely proud of. The new site was officially opened by the Rt Hon Lord Barry Jones on 14th September 2015, 4 months after they moved in.
Edge is a true family business with great people working for them and are commited to investing in people and continuing the family tradition.
